About The Position

The Lane County District Attorney's Office is seeking attorneys who are passionate about public service, committed to justice, and ready to make a meaningful impact in the community. We are recruiting for Deputy District Attorney I, II, and III positions and invite qualified candidates at various stages of their legal careers to apply. As a Deputy District Attorney, you will represent the people of the State of Oregon in criminal proceedings, work closely with victims, law enforcement agencies, and community partners, and play an essential role in promoting public safety and accountability. Attorneys in this role must exercise sound judgment, uphold the highest ethical standards, and balance compassion with a commitment to enforcing the law fairly and impartially. This recruitment may be used to fill Deputy District Attorney I, II, and III positions. Placement within the series will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competencies. Requirements

  • A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • One year of legal experience as a prosecuting attorney working in a court of general jurisdiction preferred (DA 1).
  • Two to three years of legal experience as a prosecuting attorney working in a court of general jurisdiction (DA 2).
  • Four to five years of responsible legal experience as a prosecuting attorney working in a court of general jurisdiction, including at least one year of experience prosecuting complex criminal cases (DA 3).
  • Member of the Oregon State Bar at time of appointment.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License.
  • Oregon driver license by time of appointment.
  • This position is subject to a full criminal history background check.
