This senior leadership position serves as the principal deputy to the Director of Field Services and plays a central role in shaping the strategic direction, operational effectiveness, and long-term vision of the Vermont Department of Corrections' statewide Field Services Division. The position provides oversight and support for community corrections operations, supervising district managers and central office staff, while leading strategic planning, policy development, resource allocation, program innovation, contract administration, and performance evaluation. As the Director's primary designee, this role exercises broad independent judgment, represents the Department before the Legislature, partner agencies, the media, and other stakeholders, and provides expertise and leadership during both routine operations and critical incidents. The position also requires availability to provide after-hours decision-making and operational support, serving on behalf of the Director during emergencies and other situations requiring executive leadership outside of normal business hours. The Deputy Director also serves on internal and external committees to serve operational and interagency needs. This role is instrumental in advancing the the Department's mission, ensuring effective statewide operational consistency across twelve field offices and promoting the Agency of Human Services' principles of customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships, and results-oriented practice.
