About The Position

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Deputy Director of Employee Services. This position will oversee all matters involving human resources, labor relations, and recruitment for the Agency. The position provides advice and guidance to the Executive Deputy Director, Chief of Staff, and Director on all matters involving human resources and labor relations and provides oversight of subordinate management staff. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is interested in being a leader of human resources for a Department whose focus is on the welfare and protection of children. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
  • Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization.

  • Prefers 5 years of professional experience managing a human resources program.
  • Prefers 5 years of experience supervising professional staff.
  • Prefers 5 years of professional experience in the oversight of a large program.
  • Prefers professional experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Prefers professional experience conducting community outreach as a representative of a public or business organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Deputy Director of the Office of Employee Services, overseeing all matters involving human resources, labor relations, and recruitment for the Agency
  • Provides advice and guidance to the Executive Deputy Director, Chief of Staff, and Director on all matters involving human resources and labor relations
  • Serves as spokesperson on behalf of the Director and the Agency on all matters related to human resources and labor relations in all levels of interaction with government officials, other state agencies, community organizations, and the general public
  • Oversees and organizes the human resource functions of the agency
  • Serves as full line supervisor of subordinate supervisory staff
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
