The Drug Control Program (DCP), situated within the Department’s Bureau of Health Professions Licensure, is tasked promoting prescription drug security and safe prescribing, dispensing and administration practices, and the certification of non-licensed health care professionals. DCP consists of the Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration Program, the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), the Pharmaceutical and Device Manufacturer Code of Conduct (PCOC), the Drug Stewardship Program, the Medication Administration Program (MAP), the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR), the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) program, the DCP Enforcement Unit, and the Drug Formulary Commission. The Deputy Director aids the DCP Director in managing programs and supervising staff, ensuring compliance with statutory mandates and regulations. They are involved in major regulatory and policy decisions and promote continuous program improvement.
