Protects the Courthouse and Annex, officials, employees and patrons; enforces laws; and performs emergency response functions in county buildings. This is a non-supervisory position. Basic Peace Officer and Jailer certification plus at least one year of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Basic Peace Officer and Jailer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Knowledge, Skills and/or ability Penal Code and Jail Standards; investigation; x-ray screening and metal detection; security protocols and operations. Safely operate vehicles, firearms, and specialized security equipment; physically restrain individuals; read and write reports, letters, and memos; operate a computer and/or typewriter; apply criminal investigative techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, the elected officials’, Office heads, other Official employees, and the general public; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; maintain accurate records; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record.
