About The Position

Under basic supervision, provides a variety of administrative, customer service, and clerical support functions for the Municipal Court; processes legal documents and payments, reviews and enters data on secure databases, and assists clients of the court. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting Court clients and performing a variety of customer service duties within scope of authority and training; following court policies and procedures for specific Court duties; receiving and processing documents and payments, updating data on secure databases, and releasing documents; performing duties in compliance with court administrative orders, regulations, and standards; reviewing cases to verify clients are meeting court-ordered requirements; maintaining the absolute confidentiality of all records and information; supporting the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance; and supporting the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintaining confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; and performing other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of clerical, customer service, cashiering, and computer experience.
  • Knowledge of principles of bookkeeping, record keeping, and confidential records management.
  • Skill in entering data into a computer system with skill and accuracy and maintaining electronic records and files.
  • Skill in providing effective customer service and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
  • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Level I Court Clerk certification required within two years of hire.

Responsibilities
