About The Position

The Deputy Court Clerk performs work under the direct supervision of the Court Operations Supervisor. This position performs a broad range of clerical duties related to Municipal Court operations including customer service, processing court dispositions, and money handling.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two years general office, clerical or customer service experience.
Ability to type 35 wpm with 90% accuracy.
Must possess a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
Knowledge of basic accounting methods to balance receipts.
Ability to be informative and courteous with customers.
Ability to quickly learn different types of software applications.
Ability to learn and comprehend laws pertaining to Municipal Court.
Ability to quickly and accurately scan large amounts of information.
Ability to quickly and accurately type information in the computer.
Ability to willingly perform duties in a team environment.
Ability to understand policies and confidentiality.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.
Must pass FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) fingerprint-based criminal background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.

Nice To Haves

Previous court experience preferred, but not required.
Previous cash handling experience preferred.
Texas Municipal Court Clerk Certification, Level I preferred, but not required.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
