The Colorado Senate Democrats are seeking a strategic Deputy Communications Director to assist the Colorado Senate Democratic Caucus with digital media strategy, content creation, and general communications support. This position aids in the execution of caucus communications goals during a high-energy, fast-paced legislative session and assists in highlighting caucus priorities and session accomplishments throughout the interim. The Deputy Communications Director is a full-time position and reports to the Communications Director. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated social media enthusiast who consistently takes initiative and thinks outside of the box. They should be strongly aligned with Democratic values, willing to put personal politics aside to champion a collective caucus goal, and a powerful storyteller who excels in both long-form and short-form writing styles. Competence in communicating about identity, equity, and intersectionality present in systems of power is important, as is being a rapid response opportunist – regularly scanning the news and political environments to identify intervention opportunities that advance our goals. The candidate must be detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work, and well-versed in local, state, and national political dynamics and issues. Availability for intermittent evening and weekend work as the need arises is also required.
