About The Position

This advertisement is for a Select Exempt Service position located in the Clerk’s Office at the Division of Administrative Hearings. The Clerk's Office is seeking a meticulous, highly detail-oriented Proofreader to assist judges with reviewing proposed orders. The ideal candidate will have exceptional grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy; the ability to identify subtle errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in legal and administrative documents before they become part of the official record; and the ability to work confidentially and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience involving proofreading, quality control, document review, legal support, records management, or administrative support.
  • Exceptional knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in complex documents.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy while reviewing documents
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed procedures and style requirements.
  • Ability to compare multiple versions of documents and identify changes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to deliver messages through interoffice mail, email, phone, and in person.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proofreading review and quality control check of proposed orders and other documents.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies involving names, dates, case numbers, citations, and other critical case information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
