About The Position

Abilities Network is seeking an experienced, enterprise-oriented leader to serve as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This newly created role is designed to strengthen internal leadership capacity, align strategy across four diverse programs, and support long-term executive continuity. Over the next 2–3 years, the Deputy CEO will partner closely with the CEO, COO and Board of Directors to enhance operational integration, improve cross-program alignment, and build executive readiness. Through a phased leadership model, the Deputy CEO will gradually assume broader enterprise-wide and external responsibilities. The timing and structure of any leadership transition will be determined collaboratively by the CEO and Board of Directors based on organizational needs and performance. Advancement to the CEO role is not guaranteed. This enterprise-level leadership position requires emotional maturity, resilience, curiosity, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate at a CEO altitude.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced management degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a senior management position
  • Significant knowledge and experience in the following areas is required: human services, finance, human resources and governance.
  • Proven experience in displaying integrity, modeling behavior, developing people, and building teams
  • Demonstrated success in enterprise-level management
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to inspire trust across teams
  • A strategic thinker who can translate vision into operational reality
  • A commitment to inclusive leadership, reflective practice, and organizational stewardship
  • The emotional intelligence and executive presence required for high-stakes leadership

Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-program alignment and operational excellence
  • Coach and develop senior leaders across four programs
  • Strengthen governance, financial planning, and succession readiness
  • Represent the organization externally, with responsibilities increasing over time
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team
