About The Position

The Deputy Attorney General position in the Charitable Trusts and Organizations Section of the Public Protection Division conducts investigations and enforcement actions concerning property committed to charitable purposes, ensuring that it is administered for the benefit of the public. The role provides legal services under the supervision of more senior attorneys at the DAG II level, with increasing independence and complexity at the DAG III and DAG IV levels. The work focuses on the administration of decedents’ estates and inter vivos trusts with charitable interests; governance of charitable nonprofit organizations, including addressing waste, mismanagement, or diversion of assets and reviewing amendments to organizational purposes and changes of control; and public fundraising campaigns conducted by charitable organizations or professional fundraisers. The work is governed by relevant Pennsylvania statutes and common law. DAG II attorneys handle moderately complex assignments under supervision, may manage noncomplex litigation with minimal supervision, and assist senior attorneys on more complex matters. DAG III attorneys independently handle most matters of a complex nature and significance across the legal process, including analysis, enforcement, pretrial and trial preparation, motions practice, and court appearances. DAG IV attorneys handle matters of significant scope and complexity, work independently except in extraordinary cases, and may guide less senior attorneys. The position is based in Harrisburg and requires reporting to the headquartered location at least two days per week. Telework may be available for the remainder of the week, subject to preference and business need. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is full-time, non-civil service, and non-union. Starting salaries are $80,000 for DAG II, $91,423 for DAG III, and $104,529 for DAG IV.
