The Office of Attorney General is seeking an attorney for the Litigation Section of the Civil Law Division in Philadelphia. The section defends claims involving civil rights, constitutional law, and employment law, representing the Commonwealth, the OAG, the Governor, and other Commonwealth agencies, officials, and employees. Most cases are in federal court. Attorneys handle cases from service of legal process through posttrial motions and consult with the Appellate Litigation Section on appeals. Attorneys generally manage their own caseloads, with support and guidance from supervisors and colleagues, and may work with more senior attorneys on complex matters. As DAG I or II attorneys gain experience, their work becomes more complex and independent. DAG III attorneys handle more complex and significant cases and work independently on most matters. The position is headquartered in Philadelphia. The employee must report to the headquartered location at least two days per week and may telework the remainder of the week if desired and based on business need. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional travel is required for client meetings or site visits, court appearances in federal or state courts within the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and, depending on case needs or training events, travel to Harrisburg or Pittsburgh. The position is full-time, non-civil service, and non-union. Starting salaries are $69,927 for DAG I, $80,000 for DAG II, and $91,423 for DAG III. The OAG describes its employment offering as including health care options, retirement plans, generous paid time off, work-life balance, telework options, and a supportive environment that fosters professional growth and development.
