About The Position

HX5 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Depot Maintenance Planner to support Headquarters, Air Force Material Command’s A4/FD Requirements Review Depot Determination (R2D2) team at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. This role involves utilizing experience with Depot Maintenance (DM) activities, metrics, and data analysis to track and determine the operational effectiveness of organic DM. The planner will assist with workload forecasting, processing repair decisions, preparing packages for leadership approval, and documenting decisions in the Depot Source of Repair (DSOR) Automated Management System (AMS). They will also review capability establishment, recommend corrective actions, and support workload forecasting to ensure depot capability and manpower plans are adequately funded. Additionally, the role requires drafting, reviewing, and staffing documentation for plans, policies, staffing, and budget needs, as well as preparing and presenting metrics for various corporate boards and leadership meetings. Tracking budget execution and financial performance, developing and deploying training on DM processes, identifying process problems, performing root cause analysis, and recommending solutions are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed OR bachelor’s degree and twelve (12) years of experience OR high school diploma and fifteen (15) years of directly related experience.
  • Experience/working knowledge of Air Force field and depot aircraft maintenance management processes.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
  • Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
  • Ability to travel, including air travel.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize experience with Depot Maintenance (DM) activities, use metrics, data analysis, and utilization of existing data infrastructure to track and determine operational effectiveness of organic DM.
  • Assist workload forecasting by gathering inputs, processing repair decisions, preparing packages for leadership approval, and documenting decisions in the Depot Source of Repair (DSOR) Automated Management System (AMS).
  • Review capability establishment ensuring alignment with leaders’ decisions.
  • Recommend corrective actions and support workload forecasting to ensure depot capability and manpower plans are adequately funded.
  • Draft, review, and staff documentation to support plans, policies, staffing and budget needs.
  • Prepare/present metrics for corporate boards, councils, symposiums, and leadership meetings.
  • Track execution of budgets and financial performance by monitoring customer order variations, capacity availability, and carryover positions.
  • Develop and deploy training on DM processes while identifying process problems, performing root cause analysis, and recommending solutions.
