About The Position

This position exists to process transactions and balance settlement accounts. Generate reports in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner to support the financial management and operations of the credit union. This position is responsible for ensuring accounting records and reports are accurate and in compliance with generally accepted accounting and financial practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years’ experience in accounting.
  • One to three years’ experience in financial service industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge/data entry.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding this position.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Team player.

Responsibilities

  • Process paper and electronic incoming payrolls.
  • Process Share drafts, Sight drafts, remote deposits capture, and shared branching adjustments.
  • Process Check 21 balancing and rejected items as necessary.
  • Process Escheat accounts.
  • Process Credit Life/Disability and Debt Protection Insurance premium reports.
  • Balance general ledgers.
  • Balance check registers.
  • Balance settlements for ATM/ITS and credit/debit cards.
  • Balance Vigo transactions.
  • Balance redeemed savings bonds.
  • Perform member wire transfer requests and all correspondent bank wire transfers needed for credit union cash management.
  • Perform all applicable Fedline processes as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Reconcile and verify general ledgers and reports daily and monthly.
  • Scan documents into optical system for retention.
  • Sort and process mail as needed.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly sales tax reporting to the State of Iowa.
  • Maintain and dispense inventory of cashier checks and ATM cards.
  • Act as back up and assist with the duties for the Deposit Operations team members as needed.
  • Actively and thoughtfully communicating with their supervisor, planning their goals and development, taking accountability for their actions and striving for excellence.
  • Promote products and services.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Maintain clean and professional work area and appearance.
  • Maintain positive public relations and promote credit union within the community.
  • Complete educational programs as required.
  • Commitment of service to each and every member at all times, including making a good first impression, smiling, answering the telephone by the third ring, calling people by name, thanking them, giving full attention, taking responsibility for solving problems, delivering on commitments, following through, and protecting confidential information.
