About The Position

This Departmental Technician position performs a variety of support activities for the Department of Health and Human Services at its assigned local (county) office(s). This position provides technical support functions for the local offices’ equipment, telephone system coordination, alarm and security systems, non-technical and limited technical system and problem detection, and reporting assistance. Conducts analysis, research, and completes special projects for the local office. Provides guidance to other staff within the office. Serves as the local offices’ liaison and primary contact to and from the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB). This advanced, senior level Departmental Technician provides assistance to local office management and staff for a variety of support activities in the Department of Health and Human Services local office. This position serves as a troubleshooter pertaining to local office technical support functions and performs advanced level research and analysis for local office management. Provides training to other staff within the office and serves as the local offices’ liaison and primary contact to and from the Department of Information Technology.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or a GED Certificate.
  • One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service (for Departmental Technician 7).
  • One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service (for Departmental Technician 8).
  • Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service OR One year of experience performing advanced secretarial or supervisory administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service (for Departmental Technician E9).
  • Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service (for Departmental Technician 10).
  • Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification OR One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification (for Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7).
  • Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician 7).
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician 8).
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician E9).
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician 10).
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and a criminal records check.
