About The Position

The Business Taxes Division has a Departmental Supervisor 12 vacancy within the Business Registration Section. The primary function of this position is to supervise the activities of the Departmental Technicians and Office Supervisory staff in a work area that processes tax returns and communicates with the public, taxpayers, and various internal state agencies. This position serves as the second line supervisor of Treasury Customer Service Representatives. Requirements

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • One year of experience equivalent to a Departmental Supervisor 11 or experienced-level professional; or two years equivalent to a Departmental Supervisor 10, Office Supervisor 11 and 12, Secretary Supervisor 11, experienced-level technician or paraprofessional; or three years equivalent to an Office Supervisor 10, Secretary Supervisor 10, Emergency Dispatch Supervisor 10, or Human Resources Customer Service Supervisor 10.
  • Must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position prior to being appointed to the position.
  • Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of tax law and processing experience is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of the Departmental Technicians and Office Supervisory staff in a work area that processes tax returns and communicates with the public, taxpayers, and various internal state agencies.
  • Serve as the second line supervisor of Treasury Customer Service Representatives.
  • Assigning work to staff, setting priorities, and directing work.
  • Fielding escalated and complex issues for staff.
