About The Position

The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as a Department Analyst in the Office of Innovation and Research. This position is an opportunity to build a lifelong career doing work that truly matters - helping to protect consumers and maintain public confidence in Michigan’s insurance and financial services industries. The right candidate will be capable of analyzing and conducting research on issues, legislation, economic/marketplace conditions, etc. that relate to the Department's regulation of the insurance and financial services industries. This position is responsible for researching and analyzing federal and state legislation and statutes impacting DIFS, the insurance and financial services industries and consumers of insurance or financial products.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount is required.
  • Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
  • Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement for Departmental Analyst 9.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and conducting research on issues, legislation, economic/marketplace conditions, etc. that relate to the Department's regulation of the insurance and financial services industries.
  • Researching and analyzing federal and state legislation and statutes impacting DIFS, the insurance and financial services industries and consumers of insurance or financial products.
  • Participating in webinars, conference calls, and employee development training.
