About The Position

This position serves as the training and development analyst for the Michigan Department of State. The role involves extensive work with data from SOM-LC, Business Objects, Articulate, In-Design, surveys, employment records, and other sources to gather insights and make recommendations for process improvements and strategic goals. The position is responsible for creating training materials and modules for all MDOS employees and new hires, which includes collaborating with training liaisons from each department to identify and support training needs. This role is part of the OHR DEI & Training Team and focuses on integrating DEI training, engagement, and professional development to advance MDOS and MI-DEI statewide goals. As part of the OHR team, this position will handle confidential information regarding employee/applicant demographics for reporting and evaluation purposes.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
  • Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Must apply through the NEOGOV system.
  • Attach a resume and cover letter.
  • Provide an official transcript that bears the applicant’s name, college, or university certification, date and name of the conferred degree and registrar’s signature.
  • For degrees from foreign colleges or universities, provide an academic credentials evaluation or conversion into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.
