About The Position

Seaboard Foods is hiring a Department Team Leader for its nursery department in Carroll, Iowa. Under the direction of the manager, the role involves caring for swine and assisting with employee supervision. The team leader helps ensure that farm procedures, animal-care practices, reporting, safety measures, and emergency systems are maintained. The role may also act as manager when the supervisor is not present.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in English, including reading and writing.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.
Vision abilities including close, color, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and to work around airborne particles and gases at low concentrations, waste material, feed, and hog dust.

Responsibilities

Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are maintained in good working condition.
Maintain herd health and follow company biosecurity requirements and proper animal feeding and care practices.
Train employees on day-to-day processes and procedures using hands-on methods.
Supervise and schedule groups of employees, and act as manager when the supervisor is absent.
Maintain accurate farm records and reports concerning animals, employees, and supplies.
Assist with ensuring daily and weekly reports are submitted accurately and on time.
Follow all safety procedures.
Follow the farm’s assigned medication and vaccination protocols.
Maintain alarm and emergency systems and respond properly to alarm calls.
