Department Supervisor
About The Position
The Department Supervisor is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards and ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team. The role supports an excellent customer experience by engaging with customers, keeping the store clean and organized, and modeling exceptional customer service. The supervisor coordinates truck deliveries and merchandise processing, trains and mentors Associates, monitors productivity, and helps ensure tasks are completed according to the store plan. The role also maintains backroom organization, merchandising and signage standards, and compliance with applicable recycling, hazardous waste, labor, and safety requirements. The supervisor communicates priorities and progress with management and Associates, partners with Management on training needs, and supports store shrink-reduction, credit, and loyalty programs. The position requires a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and the ability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation. Starting pay is USD $17.00 to $17.50 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
Requirements

- 1 year of retail experience and 6 months of leadership experience.
Responsibilities
- Execute receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and work as a team.
- Create a positive internal and external customer experience and role-model exceptional customer service.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Orchestrate truck delivery, prioritizing merchandise processing onto the sales floor.
- Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
- Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
- Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
- Ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan and prioritize as needed.
- Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
- Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
- Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
- Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
- Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
- Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates, and provide progress updates.
- Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
- Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Promote credit and loyalty programs.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
