About The Position

This is a non-benefitted, budgeted position limited to 999 hours per fiscal year. This is not a PERS eligible position. This position is open until filled. The Department Specialist/Fire Prevention Position assists the Fire Prevention Specialist in the Fire Department to provide effective customer service. This individual will work out of the Police and Fire Headquarters and utilize a City vehicle. Qualified candidates who meet the qualifications for both Fire Prevention Specialist I or Fire Prevention Specialist II are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license for field work when necessary.
• All positions require the ability to read, write and speak English.

Nice To Haves

• The ideal candidate will be pursuing a career in Fire Prevention.
• Fire Inspector 1A and 1B certifications are highly desirable.
• PC 832 Certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct certain inspections and re-inspections as assigned.
• Assist with Knox box and Knox gate checks.
• Conduct vegetation management inspections as assigned.
• Conduct Defensible Space Surveys as assigned.
• Performs related duties as required.
