About The Position

The purpose of this position is to administer and coordinate the department's fire prevention program, including plan review, permitting, inspections, and investigations. This position ensures compliance with adopted fire codes and local ordinances while promoting positive, professional relationships with business owners, contractors, and the community through a service-oriented approach to code enforcement. The position may be designated by the Fire Chief to act in the capacity of Deputy Fire Marshal as needed. This position also coordinates the department's company inspection program by developing schedules, assigning and tracking inspections, reviewing reports for accuracy and compliance, and providing technical guidance on fire code application and inspection standards. While the position does not exercise direct supervisory authority over company personnel, it maintains functional authority related to fire prevention activities and program compliance within the established chain of command.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of adopted fire codes and local ordinances.
  • Ability to conduct plan reviews, permitting, inspections, and investigations.
  • Skills in promoting positive, professional relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate inspection programs, including scheduling, assignment, and tracking.
  • Proficiency in reviewing inspection reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Capability to provide technical guidance on fire code application and inspection standards.
  • Understanding of the established chain of command.
