About The Position

The Department Manager of the Tools Department is responsible for merchandising and sales within the assigned department, providing the highest level of customer service, and reporting to the Store Manager. The position requires knowledge and experience with tools and the ability to work days, nights, and an alternating weekend schedule.

The Department Manager directs and coordinates merchandising, prioritizes the distribution of new merchandise, ensures adequate inventory, assists customers with purchases, and works with Retail Buyers to communicate product needs and information. The role also assists with training and directing new department team members and ensures employees and customers follow safe merchandise-handling practices. Other duties may be assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• Required experience and knowledge of tools.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work an irregular schedule, including days, nights, and an alternating weekend schedule.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to frequently bend and twist.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma preferred.
• Customer service training and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the merchandising of assigned products.
• Set priorities for distributing new merchandise within the assigned department.
• Ensure adequate inventory throughout the assigned department.
• Assist customers with purchases and provide excellent customer service.
• Work with Retail Buyers to communicate department product needs and other product information.
• Assist with training and directing new department team members.
• Ensure employees and customers practice safety when handling merchandise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
