About The Position

The Department Manager provides the highest level of customer service at the Runnings retail store in Plattsburgh, NY and reports to the Store Manager. This is a general department manager position; the specific department will be determined. The role involves coordinating merchandise receipt and distribution, maintaining inventory, supporting department team members, and keeping the department clean, organized, and safe. The position requires an irregular schedule, including days, nights, every other weekend, and/or holidays.

Requirements

• Ability to work an irregular work schedule.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Frequent bending and twisting.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Previous warehouse and forklift experience preferred.
• Customer service training and/or experience preferred.
• Retail, customer service, or management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the receipt and distribution of merchandise at the retail store.
• Set priorities for distribution of new merchandise within the assigned department.
• Ensure adequate inventory in all areas of the assigned department.
• Use appropriate receiving procedures to accurately record products received.
• Assist with training and directing new department team members.
• Clean and organize the department.
• Ensure employees and customers practice safety when handling merchandise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
