About The Position

The Department Lead oversees the efficient and effective operations of an assigned department at Rural King. The role includes inventory management, scanning outs, department recovery, price changes, planogram and playbook feature execution, cleanliness, and compliance with the indoor merchandising guide. The Department Lead helps maintain accurate inventory, attractive and organized displays, and a safe shopping and working environment.

The position also provides customer service, supports front-end transactions or loadouts as needed, uses general office and retail equipment, and participates in cross-training and learning initiatives. The role requires flexibility to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of the specific department.

• Ability to communicate verbally in person and via electronic devices.
• Close vision for computer-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow the indoor merchandising guide and maintain department and signing standards and appealing displays.
• Monitor inventory through stock counts, scanning outs, reconciling discrepancies, and replenishing stock from the stockroom or top stock.
• Oversee department recovery to keep the area neat, organized, and visually appealing.
• Coordinate and execute price changes, including updating pricing labels and signage.
• Implement playbook features and planogram sets according to company guidelines and standards.
• Maintain department cleanliness and orderliness and follow sanitation and safety protocols.
• Provide customer service by assisting with inquiries, locating products, and addressing concerns using the customer engagement model.
• Support the front end by processing transactions or assisting with loadouts as required.
• Use general office equipment, including telephones, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, and computers.
• Operate handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, and other retail equipment.
• Participate in cross-training for flexibility across departments and responsibilities.
• Participate in training programs, workshops, webinars, and other learning initiatives.
• Provide prompt, friendly, proactive, and professional support to internal and external contacts.
