About The Position

As a key member of the branch leadership support team, you will coordinate administrative operations, financial processes, special events, fundraising efforts, and executive office functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit operations, business administration, community engagement, and organizational leadership. The Coordinator will be responsible for the overall supervision of the entire department. Must be able to supervise volunteers and/or staff and make sure that everyone follows safety standards and rules of the YMCA. The Department Coordinator must possess the competence and confidence to administer the effective and quality coordination of the entire department. They must be responsible and at least 18 years of age and have the ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program. The Coordinator must demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills along with a good understanding of the community that he/she is working with. Must have the skills, knowledge and genuine willingness to work with the community. Get SMART and if supervising, Supervisor's Training preferred.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program.
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of the community that he/she is working with.
  • Skills, knowledge and genuine willingness to work with the community.
  • Familiarize themselves with YMCA rules and policies.
  • Good verbal communication skills are beneficial.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for community impact and the YMCA mission

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred
  • Supervisor's Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day administrative operations for the branch
  • Manage invoice processing, deposits, petty cash, and office records
  • Support branch leadership with scheduling, communications, and special projects
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns and community events
  • Support board and volunteer committee activities
  • Maintain office supplies, systems, and administrative processes
  • Provide exceptional customer service to staff, members, and community partners
  • Help create a welcoming, organized, and mission-driven environment
  • Coordinate the function under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
  • Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment. Keep a clean and organized work area.
  • Ensure any communication reflects the YMCA voice.
  • Always wear the YMCA staff shirt, name tag, SMART pin and appropriate attire.
  • Distribute materials and make announcements as needed to promote function.
  • Report any new or continuing problem that may arise.
  • Role model SMART behavior.
  • Supervise all staff and volunteers within the department.
  • Meet budgetary responsibilities under the direction of the supervisor.
