About The Position

RiverStone Health is an essential provider of personal and public health services serving the Yellowstone County community and south-central Montana for nearly 50 years. Our mission is to improve life, health, and safety for all communities we serve through access, affordability, compassion, and quality. The RiverStone Health Dental Clinic provides high-quality dental services, supplemented by dentists completing a dental residency. The dental team works closely with RiverStone Health Clinic medical providers, as dental care significantly impacts overall health. We care for patients of all ages, including children's first dental visits. The Dentist role is crucial in providing quality, comprehensive dental care in a fast-paced community health center, potentially covering other RiverStone Health locations, including the mobile clinic. This position collaborates with medical clinics and other organizational services for an integrated approach to health and wellness, and may participate in supervising dental student rotations. Dentists who become faculty members of our AEGD Dental Residency Program will receive an additional stipend.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Dental School.
  • Any combination of experience and training which provide the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Current and active license in good standing to practice dentistry in the State of Montana obtained by anticipated start date.
  • Able to qualify for Current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate by the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA Registration).
  • Current CPR certification (can be obtained after employment begins).
  • Completion of the credentialing and privileging process with appropriate approval.
  • Valid State of Montana Driver’s License, vehicle and vehicle insurance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic health record system(s) and how to operate a computer.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor during difficult client interactions.
  • Ability to display non-judgmental and empathetic listening skills.
  • High degree of detail-oriented level of skill.
  • Experience, competence, and sensitivity in working with people who are underserved, and of diverse race and cultures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of protected sensitive patient health information (HIPAA) and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with colleagues and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans in general dentistry disciplines.
  • Diagnoses dental decay and implements preventative measures.
  • Performs restorative amalgam and composite restorations.
  • Provides fixed prosthodontics (crown and bridge).
  • Provides removable prosthodontics (dentures and partials).
  • Performs endodontics.
  • Provides pediatric care restorations and stainless steel crowns.
  • Performs oral surgery extractions.
  • Recognizes oral health conditions and pathology.
  • Provides periodontal treatment.
  • Performs implant restorations.
  • Administers and prescribes anesthetics and medication.
  • Initiates and interprets x-ray and lab studies.
  • Interviews patients, reviews charts, and interprets laboratory data to educate patients about diagnosis and outcomes.
  • Conducts follow-up patient care for various dental issues and documents outcomes.
  • Refers patients to appropriate community resources and health care providers.
  • Provides information and demonstrations to dental staff on work tasks.
  • Provides dental and oral health education to patients and families.
  • Assists in reviewing clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment.
  • Teaches and trains patients and staff on illness prevention.
  • Assists with in-service and ongoing training of clinic staff.
  • May serve as faculty for NYU Langone Dental Residency.
  • Builds relationships and fosters a high level of customer service.
  • Manages difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
  • Exercises professional judgment consistent with organizational policies and dental profession standards.
  • Demonstrates high knowledge and competency in dentistry and associated charting requirements.
  • Utilizes and monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and supplies.
  • Upholds and ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures, mission, and values.
  • Works with and teaches medical residents, dental residents, and students.
  • Provides competent management of medically compromised patients or patients with special needs.
  • Maintains compliance with continuing education and licensure requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of RiverStone’s mission and goals.
