About The Position

Serves as branch chief and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating a statewide direct clinical dental health service program. Such responsibility involves the formulation of policies and procedures for the provision of dental services through community- and institution-based dental clinics; determining budget and staffing requirements; and supervising a staff of dentists and dental assistants, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Possess a valid license to practice dentistry in the State of Hawaii.
  • Demonstrate supervisory aptitude through successful completion of assignments involving supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision.
  • Demonstrate managerial aptitude through successful performance of, or substantial participation in, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating a group of activities to attain program objectives within time, resources, and budgetary limitations.
  • Subject to drug screening as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy.
  • Subject to an intensive background check.
  • Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
  • Must not have been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
  • Must not have been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
  • Must not have been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
