About The Position

Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a long-established and highly respected healthcare provider and Federally Qualified Health Center with locations throughout Indian River County, FL is seeking a Dental Receptionist to join our team. The Dental Receptionist will provide excellent customer service to all patients that call or visit our centers. The Receptionist will operate a multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls and directs callers to appropriate personnel by performing the following duties as well as utilize TCCH electronic systems to schedule/reschedule dental patients and update patient information. The receptionist will also verify insurances as applicable prior to appointments and check in/out visiting patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to six months of prior reception experience in healthcare and computer experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close dental office according to office protocol (operating hours).
  • Greet and welcome patients.
  • Check in and check out patients according to office protocol, verifying and updating patient information.
  • Confirm the next day's appointments.
  • Coordinate all clinical telephone communications in the practice, including answering all incoming calls in a courteous and efficient manner, responding to incoming patient account telephone inquiries, and verifying pre-authorization.
  • Check insurance for patients prior to their visit.
  • Assist in patient account activities, including collecting, pre-collecting, and/or updating patient data.
  • Perform cashier functions and complete daily cash drawer reconciliation at check out.
  • Answer and route incoming phone calls.
  • Schedule and reschedule dental appointments and answer questions.
  • Confirm appointments (when applicable).
  • Gather personal and insurance information and document it in the chart.
  • Verify and confirm that insurance coverage is active and available, including co-pays, deductibles, and eligible treatment.
  • Inform patients of balances, transfer them to the proper department, and verify and inform patients about sliding scale appointments.
  • Provide accurate information for any questions about the organization.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with the Dental Manager, Dental Director, dental staff, and other TCCH personnel (i.e., billing) to promote the smooth running of practice affairs.
  • Attend mandatory and other job-related educational conferences and acquire input from others in the department for notes prior to team meetings.
  • Help patients with directions and coordinate office patient flow from the waiting area to the examination and treatment area to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments over the phone, in person, and for walk-in patients per the published scheduling parameters.
  • Prepare and post appointment schedules for all to see on a daily basis.
  • Provide patient support as necessary, including assisting with patient translation, scheduling sliding scale appointments, and completing registration forms when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Put patients at ease by discussing care options at TCCH.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work area at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
