About The Position

The Department for Public Health is looking for an energetic and passionate dental health professional to work in the Division of Prevention and Quality Improvement (PQI), Oral Health Branch. The Dental Program Administrator provides management and oversight of the Oral Health Branch that is comprised of state-wide public health dental hygiene, dental varnish and water fluoridation programs. The position works closely with a variety of internal and external partners, local health departments and serves as Kentucky’s subject matter expert on dental health.

Requirements

  • Must have five years of experience in the practice of dentistry.
  • This experience must include at least two years of experience in an administrative and/or supervisory capacity in an agency, institution, facility or public health setting.
  • Must be licensed to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed to practice dentistry in Kentucky with experience that includes administrative and/or supervisory capacity in an agency, institution, facility or public health setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation/management, budgeting, auditing and reporting.
  • Excellent leadership skills in collaboration and partnership development with a wide variety of partners to meet program goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills targeting a wide audience.
  • Group facilitation and presentation skills with patients/clients, communities and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction for the Oral Health Branch through technical assistance, procedural and clinical training, consultation, on site visits and instruction.
  • Provides state and federal policy analysis and state policy development for programs related to oral health.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on oral health data, best practices and policy.
  • Provides education and presentations as needed to internal and external partners, local health departments, legislature and serves as the liaison between the department and state dental school deans.
  • Completes personnel and administrative related actions such as timesheet submission, travel voucher requests, purchase requests, employee evaluations and adheres to personnel and cabinet policies.
