About The Position

The Dental Operations Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of dental support staff members and daily operations of the assigned dental clinic sites.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, basic mathematics, computer applications, and technical systems.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience or five years of progressively greater responsibility or significant contributions to projects and initiatives that demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Minimum credit score of 650.
  • Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs, and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables, and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions, and other elements.
  • Requires a Dental Assistant certificate.
  • Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, their opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
  • Responsible for the resolution of conflicts that may arise between employees, between employees and customers/clients, or with the public, other legal entities or governmental authorities.
  • Compiles, analyzes and prepares information in an effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Effectively conveys technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Regularly required to sit and type.
  • Frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Occasionally squat, kneel, and reach above and below shoulder height to lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an Associate’s Degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or
  • A combination of relevant experience and completion of a high school diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, or General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5, and healthcare-related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate-type program.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision to departmental staff, including selecting and building talent, performance management, hiring/firing recommendations, communicating with staff, building a successful team, providing and ensuring employee training, managing the work of the assigned team, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, recommending workflow changes, assisting the manager with budget adherence, and maintaining compliance with employee-related reporting.
  • Facilitates efficient patient flow by coordinating front and back office dental staff, connecting patients to services, operating dashboard and metric tools to ensure efficient patient flow, maximizing appointment schedules, conducting periodic audits in the electronic health record system, ensuring daily maintenance of clinical logs, and preparing and posting staff schedules in advance.
  • Ensures patient information is collected, verified, and updated, including reviewing and offering financial options during registration and confirming insurance eligibility.
  • Conducts inspections of work areas, sterilization, and lab areas to ensure compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory guidelines, completing checklists, verifying logs, and ensuring equipment maintenance and repair, and verifying sterilization workflows and biological monitoring.
  • Handles patient complaints by assisting patients, developing solutions, and collaborating with the dental operations manager and other supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Facilitates patient care and coordinates with other sites to help patients with appointments.
  • Verifies supplies, forms, and cash boxes are in compliance with financial policies and regulations.
  • Adheres to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location based on business need.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
