About The Position

The Operations Supervisor will oversee daily operations within the Ready-Mix Concrete and Aggregate Operations departments. This role involves supervising production, dispatch, transportation, and customer service in the Ready-Mix department, ensuring quality products are delivered safely and efficiently. In the Aggregate Operations department, the supervisor will manage the daily operations of the Portable Plant, Finish Plant, and Waikapu Quarry, including quarry development, harvesting, crushing, screening, processing, and inventory management. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating production schedules, equipment maintenance, and operational resources to maximize productivity, efficiency, and profitability while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations. This role also involves leading and developing employees, administering union agreements, investigating incidents, and executing continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License (Class 3 or higher) with acceptable driving record.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain required operational certifications and qualifications.
  • Ability to pass drug screening, background check, driver abstract review, and maintain TWIC credentials.
  • Must successfully complete required physical capacity testing.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and team-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of construction materials operations, equipment utilization, and resource management.
  • Ability to analyze operational, safety, quality, and financial performance and implement corrective action.
  • Ability to prioritize labor, equipment, materials, and operational resources to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees, customers, and business partners.
  • Ability to conduct investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Proficiency with company computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required operational, safety, environmental, and leadership certifications.
  • Ability to successfully complete Company Leadership Development and Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply operational procedures, manuals, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Ready-Mix Operations - Obtain and maintain NRMCA Plant Manager Certification, Qualify as Dispatcher and Batch Plant Operator, Complete NRMCA safety and dispatch training requirements.
  • Aggregate Operations - Obtain and maintain Crusher Operator II and Loader Operator qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, trade certification, military leadership training, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in aggregate, ready-mix, construction materials, transportation, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Mechanical, welding, fabrication, equipment operation, or maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises ready-mix production, dispatch coordination, transportation operations, fleet utilization, delivery performance, and customer service activities.
  • Coordinates production schedules, plant maintenance, equipment availability, repair priorities, housekeeping activities, and operational resources for ready-mix operations.
  • Works closely with Quality Control, Sales, and Maintenance personnel to achieve safety, quality, customer service, and financial objectives.
  • Monitors key performance indicators including safety performance, delivery efficiency, fleet utilization, labor productivity, equipment availability, operational costs, and customer satisfaction for ready-mix operations.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained, qualified, and operating safely in accordance with union agreements and established past practices for ready-mix operations.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, State, and Company safety, environmental, quality, and operational requirements for ready-mix operations.
  • Supervises the daily operation of the Portable Plant, Finish Plant, and Waikapu Quarry, including quarry development, harvesting, blasting, crushing, screening, processing, inventory management, and aggregate production activities.
  • Coordinates production schedules, equipment utilization, maintenance priorities, plant relocations, repair activities, and operational resources for aggregate operations.
  • Monitors key performance indicators, inventory levels, production results, and quality standards to ensure operational objectives are achieved for aggregate operations.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained, qualified, and operating safely in accordance with union agreements and established past practices for aggregate operations.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable MSHA, EPA, State, and Company safety, environmental, and operational requirements for aggregate operations.

  • Leads employees to achieve safety, quality, production, customer service, and financial goals.
  • Monitors productivity, equipment utilization, labor efficiency, and department KPIs.

  • Investigates incidents and operational issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops employees.
  • Administers bargaining unit provisions, addresses grievances, and supports labor-management initiatives.
  • Builds positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Executes continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Responds to emergencies, weather events, production interruptions, and operational challenges.
  • Maintains positive customer relations and supports efficient, profitable operations.
