About The Position

The Dental Hygienist works at Tufts Special Care Dental Clinics, a network of outpatient clinics providing dental care to developmentally disabled patients in Massachusetts. This part-time position is based in Danvers, Massachusetts, and involves delivering patient-centered preventive and therapeutic oral health care. The hygienist conducts clinical assessments and periodontal treatments, takes radiographs, applies fluoride, educates patients and caregivers, and maintains accurate medical histories and clinical documentation. The role also supports coordinated care, treatment planning, scheduling, clinic operations, and a positive patient experience. Travel to other clinics is required.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene.
• 1–3 years of clinical dental hygiene experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in dental practice management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Massachusetts Dental Hygiene License.
• Ability to travel to other Tufts Special Care Dental Clinics.

• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience treating patients with developmental, behavioral, or medical complexities.

Responsibilities

• Review and update medical histories and provide comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care, including assessments, periodontal treatments, fluoride applications, radiographs, and patient and caregiver education.
• Collaborate with the dental team to support treatment planning and maintain accurate, detailed clinical documentation.
• Manage hygiene and clinical supplies and maintain equipment and infection control protocols.
• Ensure OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
• Provide backup assistance with appointment confirmations and scheduling.
• Collaborate with staff and trainees, maintain a professional and welcoming environment, and support a positive patient experience.
• Travel to other clinics as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
