About The Position

Under the supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Hygienist provides comprehensive periodontal care. This role involves educating patients on dental procedures, home care, and post-operative instructions, as well as monitoring instrument sterilization and operatory disinfection. The Dental Hygienist will document procedures in the patient EHR, review health histories, and provide comprehensive periodontal care including scaling, root planning, prophylaxis, and patient education. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of accredited RDH program.
  • Registered dental hygienist license and x-ray certification/license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and situations of a multi-cultural, low-income population and a desire to work with this population.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to problem solve and be self-motivated with an acute attention to detail.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and AVH policies.
  • Must have excellent written, oral, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with front office procedures preferred.
  • One year experience in dental office or health center, preferred.

Responsibilities
