About The Position

The Back Office Supervisor leads the dental assistants and oversees the clinical side of the day, partnering closely with the Office Manager and doctors to keep patients moving, rooms ready, and treatment opportunities captured. The role is based at one of Sola Kids Dental’s four Los Angeles offices and serves children, teens, and young adults, with general dentistry, orthodontics, and specialty care.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience as a dental assistant, including experience leading or training other assistants.
Strong chairside skills, including X-rays.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage a busy schedule.
Confidence giving direction and feedback to a team.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric or orthodontic office experience.
Knowledge of Medi-Cal / Denti-Cal.
Experience with Open Dental.

Responsibilities

Know the day’s patients and plan for same-day treatment.
Plan how to use the team’s time throughout the day.
Lead the morning huddle with the Office Manager.
Lead dental assistants and assign patients, assistants, doctors, sterilization, and other duties.
Monitor the schedule and adjust assignments throughout the day.
Train and coach assistants on clinical standards, patient experience, and doctor preferences.
Ensure assistants and the supervisor take required breaks.
Keep rooms and the sterile area stocked, clean, and patient-ready.
Ensure compliance with infection control, PPE, OSHA, HIPAA, and documentation standards.
Ensure charts, notes, and completed procedures are saved correctly.
Ensure patients leave with their next visit scheduled, prescriptions, and all documents signed.
Solve problems in real time and provide chairside support when needed.
Track same-day treatment, wait times, production, and labor costs.
Quickly flag performance or clinical concerns to the Office Manager.
