About The Position

San Francisco Community Health Center (SFCHC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Dental Clinic Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our Oral Health Program. Working under the direction of the Dental Director, this position provides operational leadership for both front-office and back-office functions, ensuring efficient clinic workflows, excellent patient experiences, regulatory compliance, and high-quality dental care delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Dental Assistant (DA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience in a dental setting.
  • Current California DA or RDA license required.
  • Current X-ray certification required.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Epic strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and healthcare compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily dental clinic operations to ensure efficient patient flow, quality service, and timely access to care.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize provider and staff schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Dental Director to evaluate clinic performance and operational goals.
  • Monitor clinic productivity and identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and arrange coverage to maintain appropriate clinic operations.
  • Assign, monitor, and evaluate staff responsibilities and performance.
  • Assist with employee performance evaluations in collaboration with the Dental Director.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for staff.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
  • Support exceptional patient service and timely resolution of patient concerns.
  • Provide front-office or dental assistant coverage when operationally necessary.
  • Manage incoming mail, administrative correspondence, and clinic communications.
  • Maintain effective communication among providers, staff, and leadership.
  • Monitor dental supply inventory and ensure timely ordering and replenishment of materials.
  • Track and manage deliveries, invoices, and vendor relationships.
  • Process and submit invoices through Microix, for dental laboratory, software, facility, and operational expenses.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and service requests for dental equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, infection control, and organizational policies.
  • Conduct infection prevention audits and monitor sterilization procedures.
  • Provide staff education and training regarding infection control standards and workplace safety.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and accreditation-related activities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient care and operational excellence.
