About The Position

A rapidly growing dental laboratory in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking an experienced Dental CAD/CAM Designer to join its digital department. The role offers long-term stability and the opportunity to contribute to a growing team. The ideal candidate is well-rounded, enthusiastic, organized, takes pride in producing accurate, functional, and esthetic restorations, and enjoys collaborating with a skilled laboratory team. The designer creates a range of dental restorations, reviews digital scans and case instructions, and collaborates with laboratory and clinical colleagues to produce quality work within production deadlines. The role may also contribute to workflow improvements and provide guidance to junior team members as appropriate to experience.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Dental CAD/CAM Designer in a dental laboratory.
Strong working knowledge of 3Shape and/or Exocad.
Experience designing Crown & Bridge restorations.
Strong understanding of dental anatomy, occlusion, margins, contacts, and esthetics.
Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow detailed case instructions.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage case deadlines.
Reliable, collaborative approach with strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience designing implant restorations.
Experience with full-arch, All-on-X, or large reconstructive cases.
Experience assisting with digital workflow improvements or supporting junior designers.

Responsibilities

Design dental restorations using 3Shape and/or Exocad.
Design Crown & Bridge restorations, implant restorations, and more complex restorative cases based on experience.
Support full-arch, All-on-X, and large reconstructive cases as needed.
Review digital scans, prescriptions, and case requirements before beginning each design.
Ensure designs meet standards for anatomy, occlusion, margins, contacts, function, and esthetics.
Communicate with the laboratory team to clarify instructions and resolve design questions.
Collaborate with technicians, managers, and clinical partners on complex cases.
Maintain consistent quality while meeting production deadlines.
Help improve digital workflows and overall production efficiency.
Provide guidance to junior team members as appropriate to experience.
