Responsible for performing billing functions for the dental department and serving as a liaison between the patient, finance department, and dental department. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in dental billing and insurance.
  • Knowledge of computer, Microsoft Office applications, required.
  • Ability to maintain focus and accuracy when handling data, reports, or multiple tasks.
  • Make sound judgments within established guidelines and timelines.
  • Analyze information, identify issues, and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Clearly convey and receive information in both written and verbal form.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Maintain professionalism and effectiveness in a fast-paced or occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Exercise discretion and maintain sensitive information securely.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of dental terminology, CDT codes, procedures and diagnoses desirable.
  • Dentrix Enterprise experience preferred.
  • Basic financial skills, as well as analytical skills for trend and situational analysis desired.
  • Interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems; work with frequent interruptions; be a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, reviews, and submits insurance claims daily.
  • Reviews dental record to ensure accuracy of claim.
  • Coordinates and processes payments from insurance carriers and patients; will troubleshoot any issues related to payments.
  • Ensures coordination of benefits are accurate and considered as part of the financial planning.
  • Reviews patient accounts and determines appropriate billing distributions.
  • Reviews day sheets to ensure proper coding and billing procedures daily.
  • Processes statements and enters information into database.
  • Reviews past due bills and follows up on past due accounts.
  • Serves as a liaison between insurance carriers, staff and patients to resolve any concerns and maintain a positive working relationship.
  • Ensures all insurance related duties are completed in a timely and accurate manner to ensure excellent patient relations and financial success for the practice.
  • Achieves revenue goals by effectively managing collections and receivables, insurance billing and miscellaneous operations expenses.
  • Manages and assists designated office team members with appropriate payment and insurance processes.
  • Makes definite financial agreements with each patient in accordance with office policy.
  • Provides coverage of essential functions for Dental Front office positions as requested by the Dental Office Manager.
  • Cross-trains with other billing staff to include but not limited to sliding scale process.
  • Complies with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and security of patient information; explains the law and our privacy policy to patients as needed; maintains appropriate documentation of access to medical records.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
