About The Position

Provide instructional support for students enrolled in Robeson Community College's Dental Training Program. The primary focus of this role is laboratory instruction, preclinical instruction, clinical activities, student rotation site oversight, hands-on student training, skill development, and supervision in lab, clinic, and rotation settings. Adjunct faculty may assist full-time faculty with didactic course activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting Program or hold all current dental assisting credentials required by the state of North Carolina, including dental radiography, pit and fissure sealants, coronal polishing, and nitrous oxide monitoring.
  • Possess a current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential.
  • The CDA credential is required for faculty assigned to laboratory, preclinical, and clinical instruction.
  • Must have begun or completed the Hepatitis B vaccination series and must begin and remain current with required immunizations and CPR/BLS certification as required by the program, college, and/or clinical sites.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Computer skills necessary for instructional support, documentation, communication, and learning management system responsibilities required.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, fairness, flexibility, dependability, and commitment to student success.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent clinical dental assisting experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching, training, mentoring, precepting, or student supervision experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or current enrollment in a baccalaureate program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and supervision in dental assisting laboratory, preclinical, clinical, and rotation site settings.
  • Demonstrate dental assisting procedures and guide students through safe, professional skill development.
  • Oversee students during assigned rotation experiences and help ensure students follow program and site expectations.
  • Evaluate student performance using approved rubrics, skills check lists, competency forms, and rotation documentation.
  • Reinforce infection control, sterilization, HIPAA, OSHA, standard precautions, patient safety, and professional conduct.
  • Monitor student attendance, preparation, communication, professionalism, and readiness for practice.
  • Assist full-time faculty with didactic course activities as needed, including demonstrations, grading support, student remediation, or reinforcement of course concepts.
  • Maintain accurate records, submit required documentation by established deadlines, and participate in required orientation, calibration, training, or faculty meetings.
