About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to provide dental care support in an institutional setting. The role assists the dentist with treating inmates or residents by preparing instruments, impressions, and filling materials. The assistant sterilizes equipment and instruments between patients, manages dental supplies and equipment, maintains a clean work area, reviews services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication, and checks that necessary interventions, treatments, and services have been completed. The listed pay is $21.32 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, equivalent, or higher.
• One year of dental assisting experience.
• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program, or other qualifications meeting the criteria of the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice, in compliance with the contract or applicable statutes.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist with treating inmates or residents by setting up instruments for each patient and treatment.
• Prepare impressions and filling materials.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment and replace instruments before the next patient.
• Control medications, syringes, dental supplies, and equipment; conduct inventory as required by established procedures.
• Keep equipment and the work area clean using appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review inmate or resident status to confirm completion of necessary interventions, treatments, and services.
