About The Position

Armor has an opportunity for a Dental Assistant to join its team at Richland Prison in Columbia, South Carolina. Under the general supervision of a Dentist, the Dental Assistant provides clinical, administrative, and staff support to professional dental staff. Duties include assisting with dental and radiography procedures, preparing and maintaining equipment and instruments, developing radiographs, supporting radiation safety, managing supplies, and processing patients and records.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program with current state license or certification to practice.
• Current CPR certificate.
• At least one year of experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient with electronic medical records.
• Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance, including a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dentist with dental and radiography procedures.
• Provide chairside assistance during preventive and prosthetic dental procedures.
• Prepare, sterilize, organize, and set up dental equipment.
• Clean, date, and process dental instruments according to clinic guidelines and OSHA standards, and maintain the cleanliness of the dental area.
• Monitor and maintain dental equipment, including radiographic developing equipment and sterilizers, according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Develop and process dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining radiation safety procedures and protocols.
• Order and maintain inventories of dental clinic supplies.
• Interact with and process dental clinic patients, schedule appointments, maintain dental charts, and record dental findings using the POMR charting format.
