About The Position

VA Smiles is hiring a Dental Assistant in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Dental Assistant supports the clinical team and professional dental staff by helping deliver high-quality patient care in a team-based environment. The role includes preparing treatment rooms, assisting dentists during procedures, supporting patients, and helping maintain accurate records and a safe, compliant office. Candidates must have prior dental assisting experience.

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The stated hourly pay range is $23 to $25. Requirements

• Two years of on-the-job experience.
• X-ray certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection-control training as required by law.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• Nitrous Oxide certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Welcome, comfort, and educate patients about oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Follow infection-control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake when needed.
• Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
