About The Position

Aspen Dental is hiring a full-time Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. The role supports doctors and hygienists, helps maintain productive patient flow, and provides patient care and education. Duties include assisting with treatment, preparing and breaking down operatories, supporting charting, taking radiographs, and performing expanded functions allowed by the employee’s certifications. The assistant also helps train staff, maintain sterilization and infection-control practices, monitor laboratory cases, manage supplies, and maintain emergency equipment.

Requirements

Current Dental Assistant license, registration, or certification as required by the state.
Radiology (X-ray) certification as required by the state.
Current CPR or BLS certificate.
At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
Proficiency in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry.
Ability to demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection-control techniques.
Maintain annual continuing education requirements specified by the state.
State certification in expanded functions as required by the state.

Responsibilities

Assist with direction of the dental assistant office team throughout the day to maintain productive patient flow.
Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
Break down operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
Complete equipment and operatory sterilization processes and ensure staff are trained and compliant.
Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, suction lines, autoclave, and compressor.
Set up trays and operatories for procedures.
Support doctors with patient charting.
Train others to perform patient handoffs and monitor patient flow.
Follow OSHA regulations, Aspen safety requirements, and HIPAA guidelines.
Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
Provide patients with post-treatment oral care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene.
Complete denture soft relines and manufacture temporary crowns.
Monitor and help manage laboratory cases.
Perform quality intraoral health scans of patients in under five minutes.
Explain and teach the clear aligner process.
Take impressions and bite registrations.
Perform additional expanded functions based on certifications, such as coronal polishing and restorative functions.
Maintain emergency kits and oxygen tanks.
Order and maintain supplies in accordance with the practice budget.
Perform office tasks as necessary.
