About The Position
Scharf Perio is seeking a Dental Assistant in Babylon, New York, to support the clinical team and professional dental staff by providing high-quality patient care in a team-based environment. The Dental Assistant helps deliver excellent dental care in the community and create positive patient experiences. Prior dental assisting experience is required for consideration. The role is full-time, with a schedule of Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Requirements
- Prior dental assisting experience.
- Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program or one year of on-the-job experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
- Welcome, comfort, and educate patients about oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
- Follow infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with workplace regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake when needed.
- Help dentists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
