About The Position

VA Smiles is seeking a Dental Assistant in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to support the clinical team and professional dental staff in providing high-quality patient care in a team-based environment. The role supports the practice’s mission to provide excellent dental care in the community and create positive patient experiences. Prior dental assisting experience is required. The Dental Assistant supports clinical procedures, patient care, radiography and diagnostics, documentation, and workplace safety. The position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The stated hourly pay range is $23–$25.

Requirements

Prior dental assisting experience.
Two years of on-the-job experience.
X-ray certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
Welcome, comfort, and educate patients about oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
Follow infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with workplace regulations.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake as needed.
Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
