Dental Assistant (Part-Time)
About The Position
CEC Health Care is seeking a compassionate and reliable Dental Assistant for its community health center in Hauppauge, New York. The organization is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing medical, dental, and behavioral health services to historically underserved community members. This part-time role offers an opportunity to provide patient care in a mission-driven, collaborative healthcare setting serving diverse populations, including people with limited incomes and complex healthcare needs. The schedule is two days per week: Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute break. Pay is $29.00–$31.00 per hour.
Requirements
- New York State Dental Assistant Certification.
- Ability to take dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Strong patient communication and customer service skills.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of dental assistant experience.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Responsibilities
- Provide chairside dental assistance during procedures.
- Take and process dental X-rays in compliance with New York State regulations.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and treatment rooms.
- Assist with dental lab procedures.
- Maintain clinical supplies and dental equipment.
- Support patient scheduling and appointment confirmations.
- Communicate professionally with patients and caregivers.
