The Dental Assistant supports the Dentist during chairside examinations and patient treatment, assists in the dental lab, and performs clerical duties related to the dental program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate from an accredited dental assisting program.
• Ohio Radiology license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for dental treatments.
• Take appropriate, readable radiographs as directed by the Dentist.
• Provide education about procedures under the Dentist’s oversight.
• Chart existing dental conditions in the EDR.
• Complete assigned tasks in the EDR.
• Enter data, including treatment plans, into the EDR under the Dentist’s supervision.
• Obtain accurate patient health histories and updates at every visit, including blood pressure.
• Ensure appropriate dental instruments are available for each procedure.
• Sterilize dental instruments using the autoclave according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
