About The Position

At DiFranco Orthodontics, supported by Smile Brands, the team provides orthodontic care in a positive, stress-free, and welcoming environment. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant supports the orthodontist throughout patient treatment, contributes to an efficient clinical environment, and helps ensure patients feel comfortable and valued. The schedule is Monday 11:30 to 6:30, Tuesday 8 to 5, Wednesday 8 to 5:30, and Thursday 10 to 7. Compensation is $26–$30 per hour. Benefits depend on employment status and hours worked.

Requirements

Meet all state-specific dental assistant credentialing requirements for the assigned duties in the state of employment.
Orthodontic experience.
Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain it before the start date.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

Handle bracket adjustments.
Prepare and finish bonds after the doctor places brackets and other appliances.
Handle aligners and other procedures.
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for orthodontic procedures.
Assist the orthodontist during patient appointments and procedures.
Take digital radiographs, photographs, and intraoral scans as needed.
Change archwires, ligatures, and orthodontic appliances as permitted by state regulations.
Provide patients and families with oral hygiene instructions and appliance care education.
Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols.
Accurately document patient treatment and update electronic health records.
Manage inventory and ensure operatories are stocked and organized.
Collaborate with the clinical and administrative team to provide a seamless patient experience.
