About The Position

Share your clinical expertise and inspire the next generation of dental professionals! Pima Medical Institute's El Paso campus is seeking a Substitute Dental Assistant Instructor to provide high-quality classroom and lab instruction on an as-needed basis. This role is perfect for a practicing Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist looking to share their hands-on skills with eager adult learners during morning hours (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) without leaving direct practice.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR a minimum of three (3) years of related occupational experience if graduating from a non-accredited program.
Minimum of two (2) years of practical work experience in dental assisting (or general dentistry).
Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), or Licensed Dentist in the State of Texas.
Active Texas state credentials/licenses as required by local, state, and federal laws.
Demonstrated proficiency in four-handed and/or six-handed dental assisting methods, chairside techniques, and Texas dental regulations.
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).

Responsibilities

Deliver pre-planned dental assisting lesson plans, lectures, and hands-on lab training (including four-handed/six-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and infection control).
Grade student assignments, clinical lab competencies, and exams within 72 hours of submission.
Address academic or behavioral concerns proactively, connecting students with campus resources and leadership as needed.
Maintain precise and timely student attendance logs, early alerts, incident reports, and academic records.
Enforce strict OSHA, HIPAA, and safety guidelines across classroom, laboratory, and clinical areas.
Participate in campus faculty meetings, in-service workshops, and advisory board events when applicable.
