The Dental Assistant/Access Coordinator is responsible for interacting with patients in person or on the phone in a professional, kind, and courteous manner. This role will be responsible for the accurate check-in/admissions of incoming patients for both, medical and dental service lines. Assist the Dentist with dental procedures as instructed. Responsible for the care and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines and established productivity standards set for the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information using electronic medical record system. Verifies patient insurance. Protects patient confidentiality. Efficiently works in electronic medical record system, files, and retrieves medical charts. Scans and attaches patient documents to proper electronic chart location or assign to appropriate staff member. Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phones. Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette. Assist the dentist with all dental procedures, as directed. Take dental x-rays; develop and prepare the x-rays for evaluation by the dentist. Clean, sterilize, and lubricate instruments. Provide dental education for patients and families as required. Perform general lab procedures as required. Responsible for assisting with inventory and ordering of dental supplies. Maintain operatories, waiting area and laboratory in proper order. Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized. Responds to patients', prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner. Other duties as assigned.
